MND Sports Tour of London
The Charities

March of the Day III is fundraising for two charities, the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation and the Mel Evans MBE Foundation. This page shares the information on how the money raised will be used

The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation was set up by former footballer Stephen Darby and ex British serviceman Chris Rimmer. There has three main aims.

  1. To raise awareness of MND
  2. To support the families of those who have been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. This support is given through grants in conjunction with the MND Association. This may cover support in the form of House adaptations, Vehicle adaptions, Riser recliner chairs, Stair lifts, beds and accessories etc
  3. To fund research into treatments and a cure for the disease.

This Foundation was set up in memory of Mel Evans MBE who was diagnosed with MND. As a much loved father, grandfather, partner, friend and bowler who was responsible for bringing Crown Green Bowls back onto TV, we want this Foundation to become a lasting legacy to help those in society who are stricken by MND.

The Mel Evans MBE Foundation was formally and legally approved by The Charities Commission in August 2019. The objectives of the Foundation are to raise awareness of MND and to orgnise events to fund research into treatments and, ultimately, a cure
