Joe Thompson made his name as a footballer for Rochdale, Tranmere Rovers, Carlisle United, Bury and Southport after coming through the youth ranks at Manchester United. Joe has recently been diagnosed with cancer for the third time. His friends and family and many of his former teammates and fellow pros from the football community are looking to do all they can to help Joe. They are looking to raise a total of £250,000 to support in through his treatment as he faces into his cancer battle once more.

There are a number of activities in plan top support this fundraising. There is a football match involving a number of high profile ex-players at Rochdale in May. One of his former teammates approached Redwood Events about staging one of our walks to support this cause. So we are planning Walk With Me For JT on October 12. 

The plan is that walkers will register to take on a 21 mile walk between Manchester United and Rochdale calling at three other football grounds along the way. Walkers will register in groups of up to 6 and raise funds to support Joe and his family.
