The Gardens of Eden Event is a team walking event over a route of over 22 miles, starting and ending at Scholes, West Yorkshire. The route is divided into 7 stages, each stage ending at a local park or gardens
Teams of up to 5 walkers can enter. While most walkers will want to tray to complete the full journey, this is not a specific rule. As long as some members of a team are on each stage, then others can rest for that stage. They will need to provide their own support vehicle for this.
The Event Sponsor, Newlay Readymix Ltd , has heavily sponsored the t-shirts and hoodies for this event. So there is a registration fee to join the tour. Basic fee is £10 per walker. This includes a pink event t-shirt. For an additional five pounds, the walker will get a hoodie in a choice of pink, purple or black.
Walkers will register in their teams at Scholes CC between 8.15 and 8.45. Teams will begin their journey at 9am in the order in which they registered. The cricket club may even provide a hearty breakfast. At each stage end, marshals will be present to check the team in.
There is a lunch break at the John Smiths Stadium where there are a number of food outlets to feed the walkers who will no doubt be hungry by then.
In fundraising terms, we are challenging each team to try to raise a sum of £500 (or £100 per person).
